Precautionary Advice - Selling E-books On Ebay For Real Money
I have been studying the online market of e-Books for a few years. I started off like many others; curious to know how much money I could make online through eBay selling these digital items that require no postage. I quickly built an online reputation for the e-Books I was selling as well as increasing my feedback score. But unfortunately eBay shut-down my account and stated that I did not have the copyright permissions to sell the e-Books, despite that fact that I owned the resell rights in writing.
About 6 months later after numerous emails to eBay customer support, a recorded letter to head office and phone calls to their seemingly non-existent customers services call center. I finally managed to get my eBay account revoked. But I had lost faith in using eBay to sell my e-Books so I set-up my own online store on my website. This is when I really began to understand why it is so easy to sell on eBay; the number one reason is the sheer volume of traffic and visitors that eBay receives each and every day. It would cost me just 15p to list a single e-Book on eBay, yet to promote my website would costs hundreds if not thousands to generate the same number of sales that I achieved on eBay.
There is another major revenue pitfall that many e-Book sellers seem to miss out on; marketing within the contents of the e-Books they are selling. Many sellers do not check the contents of their e-Books, many of the e-Books they are selling may contain adverts that are making other sellers money! Try to add at least a link within the e-Books you are selling which bring visitors back to your site. That way if the e-Book is sold or passed on, your link will still bring its readers back to your website.
Setting up a Google AdSense account to place adverts inside your e-Books is another way to generate extra streams of revenue from your e-Books. That way when a customer buys an e-Book from you the transaction does not have to end there.
My biggest tips would be:
• Try to write your own e-Books; that way you own full control over the adverts that are placed within the e-Books contents.
• If you do sell on eBay make sure you own full resell rights and copyright permissions and state this clearly on all of your auctions.
• Don’t fall into believing that all your revenue comes from e-Book sales alone. E-Book sales are often only one third of your total revenue.
• Often an underpriced e-Book will produce much higher sales figures from the contents within the e-Book.
• Customize your e-Books; place link back to your website, include adverts and affiliate marketing
My e-Book store: e-Bookz.co.uk has been running independently for only a few months but is slowly picking up sales.
