Use Article Marketing To Boost Your Business
Using articles to promote your business is a great way to get a lot of free high quality traffic to your website, plain and simple. One of the best things about using this method is it doesn’t have to cost you a penny.
Why submit articles?
Every time you submit an article to a directory you gain another incoming link to your website. On top of that you are positioning yourself as an expert by writing on topics of interest to your target market. Newsletters, websites, and blogs sometimes will also pick up your article and use it, which will then send you even more free traffic.
Step 1: Writing The Article
Of course you’ll have to start the process by getting your first article written. This isn’t nearly as difficult as it may seem at first. If you can talk you can write articles, it’s that simple. There are many ways to get ideas for articles.
1. Are there any questions you seem to receive often from customers or potential customers? Create an article to answer the question or questions. Since some people have already asked there are likely many others who want to know the answer.
2. Can you share something that has worked out really well for your business lately? For example, I recently gained a new client from submitted articles to directories and this made me think about writing this article to share just how profitable article marketing can be. Don’t worry so much about giving away your secrets; just give away enough gems of information that people can really benefit from what you are telling them.
3. Write down topics as they come up. You likely think about your business a lot, and there will often be ideas and topics that come to mind as you go about your activities. As you think of something, write it down to come back to later and expand on. When I think of an idea for an article I open up Microsoft Word and save a document with the title of my new article as it’s name, then I put it on my Desktop. Then when I’m ready to start writing I’ve got a reminder staring at me with a topic idea ready to go.
Step 2: Write Your Bio
At the bottom of every article you submit to directories there should be a bio that tells people about you and your business. It is important that every bio has a clear, concise call to action so that when people read it they just have to visit your website.

Step 3: Sign Up for Article Directories
There are hundreds of article directories out there and many of them don’t permit you to post your articles unless you’re a registered user.
I always have a separate email address for this registration because sometimes these directories send you spam and you just want to make sure you protect yourself against that.
Step 4: Submit Article
There are many ways to submit your articles to directories, the most tedious and time consuming being by hand. If you are going to be doing a lot of article submissions then it’s definitely a good idea to get some sort of automated system going.
Until recently I was using Roboform to automate my submissions by filling out the custom fields. I’ve come across an article submission program that is free, though, and have now started using that to do my submissions. It’s called Article Submitter. The only drawback is that you can’t add your own article directories so I will be using both Roboform and Article Submitter to make sure I hit all the important directories like:
- EzineArticles.com
- Isnare.com
- IdeaMarketers.com
- GoArticles.com
Another program that does a great job of automating is Article Announcer. This program is pretty pricy but one benefit is that it rotates your articles so you are submitting different versions as you go through your submissions.
However you decide to submit your articles just remember that doing this on a regular basis will produce great results. You’ll be getting more incoming links to your website, visitors will be showing up from here and there as they read your articles and you never know what potential business partner might be reading your articles.
