Ebook Writing - 5 Strategies To Stop Distractions From Torpedoing Your Ebook Writing

1. Don’t wait for the perfect, time, place, and circumstances to write your ebook because it may never come. Have you ever said to yourself, it’s too noisy, I can’t write here? Or I’m too busy, I can’t write now? Or I can’t do it right now, the time just isn’t right? As Napoleon Hill said, “Start where you stand and work with whatever tools that you may have at your command. Better tools will be found as you go along” The problem is that this is counterintuitive. It’s human nature to want to have everything in place before writing your ebook but in reality it doesn’t work that way!

2. Make appointments with yourself to write your ebook and make sure you keep them! Otherwise you will allow whatever is going on in your life to distract you. Create a system of rewards and punishments if that will help you to stick to your schedule.

3. Find your perfect ebook-writing place and go there to write. This may be a favorite chair, the library , a park bench, wherever that place is for you that allows your writing to flow. It can be difficult to write if you don’t have a place to do it that works for you! And the wrong place can be filled with distractions that insure you never write your ebook!

4. Evaluate and/or remove all external distractions. First look and see if the distractions really are in the way of writing your ebook. Some people have to clean up before they can write. Other’s have to sit down and get all their distracting thoughts out of their head. Do whatever you have to do to remove the distractions but don’t let the distractions stop you from writing.

I used to have to clean the house before I could write but then I found I was too tired to write! So then I decided I could just close the door of the room I was writing in and tidy that room. Now, I’m like a thoroughbred horse. I just put blinders on, go to my desk and write and I don’t allow messiness to dictate my writing because I realized I was allowing myself to use distractions not to write. How about you?

5. Write down your major thoughts about your ebook and get them out of your head.. By getting focused on exactly what you want to write your ebook on, you are removing the distracting thoughts that don’t have to do with THIS ebook. You want to get them out of your head and onto the computer or paper. Once you do that, your ebook starts to come into focus and it’s easier not to be distracted.- it becomes more real and easier to move forward.
